It seems like I've always been a knife enthusiast. My first purchase that I can remember was a baby bowie I got at Knott's Berry Farm in So California when I was about eleven. It had a compass in the handle. I loved to throw it and stick it, except for the time my enthusiasm got away from me and I stuck it in my shin rather than the ground. One little mistake....

I used knives as a Boy Scout, camper, commercial fisherman, fish market employee, deckhand, Marine, and during a career as a game warden. Through all those experiences

	I started my knifemaking career with a kit knife from Atlanta Cutlery 10 years ago. That led to Blades N Stuff and, I'm proud to say, a friendship with Bob Engnath. My addiction being complete, I
started  learning all I could about knifemaking. I soon met  Jim Ferguson, Ralph Freer and Bill Herndon, all of whom became my mentors to one degree or another. The lessons were not wasted.

When I retired I spent 9 weeks in formal training, much of that at the ABS School through Texarkana College. I've spent a lot of time in front of a grinder or forge and I still love it.

My desire as a knifemaker is to create a quality knife. Whether a simple utility knife or an upscale art knife I make all my knives to be used and "go cut."
